Paper Village is a diary that stays on your phone. This page explains what happens to what you write in it. In short: nothing leaves the phone unless you send it somewhere yourself.

No account, no tracking

The app needs no account and no sign-in, and collects no name, email or phone number. It has no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it sends nothing to any server, ours or anyone else’s.

What stays on your phone

Every diary page, the photos you add, your stamps, level and coins, your character’s name and your settings are stored in the app’s own storage on your phone.

Photos

When you add a photo to a page, iOS opens its photo picker and the app receives only the photo you choose. A smaller copy of it is saved in the app’s own storage on the phone. It is never uploaded.

Reminders

The daily reminder is a local notification that your phone schedules for 9 PM in its own time zone. It never passes through a server. The app asks for notification permission only when you turn the reminder on.

Diary lock

The lock is optional. When it is on, the app asks iOS to check Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode, and receives only one answer: it worked, or it didn’t. iOS keeps the face and fingerprint data; the app never sees it.

PDF books and sharing

PDF books and share pictures are made on the phone. They leave it only for the place you pick in the iOS share sheet, such as Files, Print or a message.

Backup

The app’s data is part of your iPhone’s backup when iCloud Backup or a computer backup is turned on. Apple keeps that backup in your iCloud account, or your computer keeps it; we can’t reach it. There is no cloud sync between devices in this version.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app deletes all of its data from the phone. Earlier iPhone backups stay as they are until you delete or replace them in iPhone Settings.

This website

village.coderv.net uses no cookies and no analytics, and loads nothing from other sites: its fonts, pictures and clips all come from the same server. The server keeps no access logs.

Changes

If anything changes in how the app handles data, this page will be updated, with a new date at the top, when the version with that change is released.
