Short answers to the things people ask most. If yours isn’t here, the email is at the bottom of the page.

New phone or lost phone: will my diary come back?

There is no cloud sync in this version, and no account to sign in to from another phone. Your diary is stored on the phone and is part of your iPhone’s backup (to iCloud or to a computer). When you set up a new iPhone from that backup, the diary comes back with it, just as it was.

If a phone is lost without a backup, we have no copy to restore, because the app never sends us anything. So it’s worth keeping iCloud Backup turned on in iPhone Settings.

Printing your diary as a PDF book now and then is a nice way to keep it outside the phone too, but the book is for reading only; it can’t be loaded back into the app.

How does the diary lock work?

Turn it on in the Me tab under “Lock the diary”. After that the app asks for Face ID or your passcode when it opens, locks again after more than a minute in the background, and hides your pages in the app switcher.

If Face ID fails, your passcode opens it, so nobody is ever locked out. If you remove the passcode from the iPhone itself, the diary lock turns off on its own.

How do I print my diary?

Use the print button in the Diary tab, or print every page from the Me tab. Choose the pages (this week, this month, all, or by hand), then the cover and title, A5 or A4, the paper, photos and stamps, and the closing page with your cat.

Out comes a PDF to save in Files, print from the share sheet, or send. You can also share a single page as a story-sized picture.

My reminder doesn’t arrive

The daily reminder comes at 9 PM in your phone’s time zone. Turn it on in the Me tab under “Daily reminder”; the first time, iOS asks for permission to send notifications.

If it doesn’t arrive, check that notifications are allowed for the app in iPhone Settings → Notifications, and that a Focus mode isn’t holding them back. The reminder time is fixed in this version.

Arabic and English

The app is Arabic first, with full English. Switch in the Me tab under “Language”: the words and the direction of every screen change at once, and so does the reminder. Pages you have written stay as you wrote them, in any language.

Does it need the internet?

No. The whole app works offline, on a plane or anywhere else, because it never connects to a server at all.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone with iOS 15 or later. There is no iPad or Android version for now.
